A top AEW star has been heavily rumored to sign with WWE in the near future. Following a recent update on the same, the wrestling fans could not help but explode with reactions online.

The aforementioned star, who has been a popular attraction for Tony Khan's company for years, is Danhausen. Mr Nice Mr Very Evil rose to prominence as a highly captivating star known for his bizarre look and comedic antics. However, he has not appeared on All Elite Wrestling television since the Worlds End 2023 pay-per-view event.

Amid his prolonged hiatus, it was reported that Danhausen had attracted significant interest from other wrestling companies, including WWE, which could sign him upon the end of his current contract in February 2026. This came after the company reportedly denied his request not to add injury time to his contract.

Furthermore, a recent report stated that WWE has a major interest in signing him once his current deal expires, as they believe that he would thrive in their developmental territory, NXT. This drew mixed reactions from fans on social media.

A fan bluntly said that Tony Khan would not release him, considering the fear of losing a popular name to his rival, WWE, which could make him a top star. Another fan stated that he should never have signed with the Jacksonville-based promotion in the first place, while another questioned his current status with the company.

@EliteClubS0B @WrestleVotes @FightfulSelect AEW knows WWE will make him a star. Thats why Tony won't release him.

@WrestlePurists @WrestleVotes @FightfulSelect Duh, he should’ve never signed with AEW they didn’t know what to do with him. Certain wrestlers really just belong in WWE or independent.

@EliteClubS0B @WrestleVotes @FightfulSelect Bro is still signed with AEW?

A fan called him the apt choice to take over the comedic gimmick from WWE veteran R-Truth. At the same time, another fan hoped that he would be booked better if WWE signed him in the future, while another user hoped to see him with his real-life friend and top WWE star, CM Punk, in the company.

@EliteClubS0B @WrestleVotes @FightfulSelect Someone must take over for R Truth at some point. He’s hilarious.

@EliteClubS0B @WrestleVotes @FightfulSelect he never really got to do his whole gimmick much with injuries and lack of creative so I hope he gets to shine

Wrestling legend called Danhausen AEW's equivalent to popular WWE legend

Top indie wrestling veteran Joey Janela called Danhausen a major missed opportunity for Tony Khan's company. He opined that he could have been All Elite Wrestling's R-Truth, known for his comedic on-screen presence in WWE.

"Biggest ball dropped by AEW. Best merch, biggest potential merch seller, most marketable, could’ve been AEWs R truth would’ve figured out a spot for him for life.." Joey wrote

With major rumors of Danhausen potentially signing with WWE floating, it remains to be seen if that actually becomes a reality once he becomes a free agent.
