After becoming back-to-back World Series champions, the Los Angeles Dodgers aims to become the only third team in MLB history to complete a three-peat. The 1998-2000 New York Yankees were the last team to accomplish a true three-peat. The Yankees also did a three-peat from 1949 to 1953 and 1936 to 1939. The Oakland Athletics are the other team to complete a three-peat (1972 to 1974).
Doing a three-peat is a rare thing in sports. The Dodgers have a strong core and roster good enough to run it back again. On Friday, MLB insider Ken Rosenthal said "good health" will be the most important thing in the Dodgers' pursuit of third straight World Series.
"It will take good health, first and foremost," Rosenthal said. "And it's tough when you come off a postseason as draining as that one was, especially on your pitching staff. We saw the effects of 24 on 25 with some of the relievers last year. But if they have good health and they get an injection of offense that maybe comes from some unexpected place, maybe one of their young outfielders, maybe from a player they pick up, that would help as well.•

Rosenthal also mentioned that Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman are getting older but still their experience should only help Dodgers positively.
"They're still productive," Rosenthal added. "And Mookie, I know, had a bad year, but they're going to be good players. It's just that the Dodgers probably need a little bit more of a lift offensively."Dodgers' offseason departures and acquisitions
The key to winning a championship boils down to how good a roster is. The Dodgers have three MVPs atop their lineup and have several arms that can post a Cy Young calibre season.
After winning the World Series second straight year, several Dodgers players became free agent, including Andrew Heaney, Michael Kopech, Kirby Yates, Miguel Rojas, Michael Conforto and Kiké Hernández.
The Dodgers' biggest acquisition this offseason was signing closer Edwin Diaz to a three-year, $69 million deal. There are other minor additions like claiming Mike Siani off waivers from the Braves, adding Ronan Kopp to the 40-man roster, signing minor league deals with Catcher Chuckie Robinson and pitcher Carlos Duran, outrighting pitcher Tony Gonsolin, Michael Grove and Justin Dean off the 40-man roster, and re-signing reliever Nick Frasso on a minor league deal.
The offseason is still young and we might see more important and headline grabbing signings in the coming month.
