The Hall of Fame ceremony wasn't 'The Burmese Python' Aung La N Sang's only role at ONE 173. The Myanmar sporting hero thoroughly enjoyed his time behind the microphone, too.

Shortly after being inducted into the ONE Championship Hall of Fame on the card, becoming only the third person to achieve that feat after fellow former ONE world champions Bibiano Fernandes and Demetrious Johnson, the Kill Cliff FC representative jumped into the broadcast booth to make his commentary debut.

He joined regular Circle-side color commentators, Mitch Chilson and Ray Flores, for two-division king Christian Lee's lightweight MMA world title defense against Alibeg Rasulov.

"Oh, I loved it. I loved it. It was exciting. Fun, but of course I'm not overly dramatic, you know. That's not who I am. I just say it like I see it, you know, and I hope they enjoy my commentary, you know, because I say it as is and I understand the technical side of it," Aung La N Sang told Nick Atkin in a post-fight interview.

Rather than adding theatrical flair or manufactured excitement, the former ONE middleweight and light heavyweight MMA world champion broke down the action with the analytical eye of someone who spent two decades competing at the highest level.

"Yeah, that was a lot of fun, you know, and I was like it was fun, you know, enjoyable doing what Mitch, you know, does, and got to hang out with him and talk with him and commentate with him. So it was really cool," he continued, expressing genuine appreciation for the experience of working alongside the veteran broadcaster.

Aung La N Sang says it felt "kind of weird" returning to the Circle not to fight

In the same interview, Aung La N Sang revealed that it felt strange hearing his walkout anthem playing as he stepped into the Circle to receive the Hall of Fame recognition.

"It feels kind of like, it's cool, but it feels kind of weird, you know? Yeah, as I was walking down, I was like, they play my song. I was like, I'm not fighting. So it's kind of, I don't know. I almost felt like I wanted to fight," the Florida-based fighter shared.

Aung La N Sang bid farewell to the sport after his middleweight MMA clash against Zebaztian Kadestam at ONE Fight Night 36. That evening, 'The Burmese Python' claimed the 31st victory of his legendary career via TKO in the second round.
