Manchester United fans on social media are delighted to see Ruben Amorim name an unchanged starting XI against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League. Some have hailed the manager, claiming that it is a step Sir Alex Ferguson took in his time at the club.
Senne Lammens keeps his place in goal, with Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, and Luke Shaw playing as the back three in defence. Amad Diallo and Diogo Dalot are the full-backs, with the Portuguese operating on the left.
Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro continue to be the midfield options for Ruben Amorim, who believes that the duo are ahead of Kobbie Mainoo. Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha are the attacking optiosn right behind Benjamin Sesko, who leads the attack.
Fans are delighted to see the manager sticking with the same starting XI after winning three on the bounce and posted:
@ManUtd Now go repeat the success
@ManUtd Yeah we’re winning. Just don’t make any unnecessary defensive changes in the second half
@ManUtd Good thing to retain same Eleven without change as it builds chemistry and coherence! GGMU
@ManUtd The winning team, GGMU!!
@ManUtd He’s gone with an unchanged team for the first time😭 He might’ve actually changed.
@ManUtd He's now getting on point! The winning team hardly changes! That's how Fergie managed!
@ManUtd Didn’t see that coming, he always tinkers with the starting 11. Must be a first!
Ruben Amorim spoke to the media ahead of the Nottingham Forest clash, admitting that the time has been tough at Manchester United and that he is confident they can do better. He added that shifting focus to the UEFA Europa League last season was an issue and said (via club website):
"It's hard to say that ... Sometimes. Sometimes in some moments. I know that you are going to write but there were some moments that were tough to deal [with]. To lose so many games, that was so hard for me because this is Manchester United. The position that we had in the last year, putting all the attention on the Europa League and not winning." "That was massive. So, I had some moments that I struggled a lot and I was thinking that maybe it's not meant to be. Today is the opposite, so you can write this one! Today I feel that and I know that that was the best decision in my life and I want to be here, but for that I need to win against Nottingham."Manchester United are sixth in the Premier League table and can jump to second with a win today.
Ruben Amorim unsure if Manchester United are back to their best
Ruben Amorim was asked if the three wins have seen Manchester United move away from the storm. The manager claimed that they still need to continue winning games and said (via club website):
"It's hard to say. We need to think positively but we also need to be prepared that football is like this. We are not that team that I can say to you 'no, no, no, now we can lose here or then, but we are going to maintain [momentum].' I trust in my players more, I think they trust me more. That will come with wins and you can sense that because everyone now is saying 'how connected they are' and 'they believe in the manager.' It's about winning games."Manchester United are out of the Carabao Cup and have just one tournament to play this season apart from the Premier League—the FA Cup, which starts for them in January from the third round.
