"That one nobody wanted"- 21-time WWE champion comments on blockbuster match featuring John Cena and Nikki Bella

A legendary 21-time WWE champion recently talked about John Cena's match featuring his former partner, Nikki Bella. The name in question is the current SmackDown star, The Miz.

The A-Lister is one of the most decorated stars in World Wrestling Entertainment. Throughout his career, he has won multiple titles, including the WWE Championship twice, the Intercontinental Championship eight times, the United States Championship twice, and the Tag Team Championship nine times.

During a recent interview on UNLIKELY with Adrian Hernandez, The Miz talked about his most underrated WrestleMania moment. The legendary star namedropped his and his wife, Maryse's, blockbuster Mixed Tag Team Match against John Cena and Nikki Bella at WrestleMania 33 as one of the most underrated moments of his career.

The A-Lister highlighted that people did not want to see Cena and Bella team up against him and Maryse. However, he noted that their clash became the talk of the town, thanks to their incredible performances, and had the "biggest buzz" of the night.

"I’ll also put in John Cena & Nikki Bella versus the Miz & Maryse as another one. That one nobody wanted. People were like, ‘John Cena and The Miz in a mixed tag match at WrestleMania? What? Are you kidding me? Ugh.” And then by the time we did it, it was like the talk of the entire show at WrestleMania. And then afterwards, it had the biggest buzz out of anything," he said.

The Miz paid tribute to WWE legend John Cena

After John Cena's WWE retirement on December 13, 2025, The Miz took to Instagram to dedicate a post to his former rival. The A-Lister highlighted that he had been demanding one final match with Cena before the latter's retirement.

Despite not being able to face the 17-time World Champion in 2025, he was happy that his last interaction with Cena inside the ring was their tag team match on WWE RAW after WrestleMania XL.

"All year, I kept saying I wanted one last match against John Cena. One more moment. One more rivalry. One last fight. But honestly…two years ago, the night after WrestleMania, I tagged with John Cena. And standing beside him in that ring…That was the perfect last match. Not rivals. Not enemies. Teammates," he wrote.

The Miz's booking hasn't been the best in 2025 as he has lost almost every other match. It will be interesting to see what the Triple H-led creative team has planned for the WWE legend in 2026.
