Texans agree to big draft-day trade

5 hours ago 1

In a new pre-draft move, the Houston Texans have traded their 2025 fifth-round pick (No. 166 overall) and a 2027 fifth-round selection to the Cleveland Browns. In return, Houston acquires three picks in this year's draft: two sixth-rounders (Nos. 179 and 216) and a seventh-rounder (No. 255).

This trade provides the Texans with additional opportunities to strengthen their roster depth, particularly in the later rounds where finding hidden gems is key. With these extra picks, Houston can target developmental players who may contribute on special teams or evolve into valuable backups.

General Manager Nick Caserio has a history of maneuvering through the draft to maximize value, and this move aligns with that strategy. By increasing their total number of picks, the Texans position themselves to address multiple needs and add competition across various positions.

As the draft unfolds, Houston's front office continues to demonstrate a proactive approach, making sure the team remains flexible and prepared to capitalize on opportunities that come up.
