7 hours ago 2

Terri Harper looks to defend gold at home on May 23 when she defends the WBO lightweight title in Doncaster against Natalie Zimmermann. The fight airs on DAZN

Harper (15-2-2) is a former super featherweight champion. "Belter" attempted to hold titles in two weight classes before winning gold against Rhiannon Dixon in September. The 28-year-old is ready to put on a show on Friday night in front of family and friends.

"I've got the fire in me, the self-belief, the love for boxing. I'm hungry again, and if I don't get a statement win here on Friday night, I'll be disappointed."

Ranked tenth by the WBO, Zimmermann (13-0) competes in the U.K. for the first time. The German is a massive underdog but is ready to adapt and cause an upset.

"I've brought in girls from all over Europe to give me hard sparring and try to replicate Terri's style," Zimmermann said. "I have really put my all into this training camp. I am at my best, and I will give my best. Becoming world champion on Friday night means everything to me."

Top contenders look to impress on the Terri Harper vs. Natalie Zimmermann undercard while local gold is on the line.
