Rick Barnes and Dusty May's squads continued dancing through the Sweet 16.
On Sunday, Midwest Region action at the 2026 NCAA Tournament will conclude with a 1 vs. 6 seed matchup, as the Tennessee Volunteers get a shot against the top-seeded Michigan Wolverines. Neither squad has faced too much trouble to reach the Elite Eight —but only one can advance to the Final Four.

Michigan's dominant 2026 season has continued deep into March. Still with just three losses all year, the Wolverines have taken down Howard, Saint Louis and Alabama with relative ease in the Midwest bracket, with forward Yaxel Lendeborg leading the way. May's squad is seeking its first Final Four berth since 2018, also eyeing its first championship since 1989.
Barnes' Volunteers stand in the way, however, also bringing plenty of size to this matchup. Tennessee handled business against Miami (OH), then has gone on to topple the region's No. 3 and No. 2 seeds in Virginia and Iowa State. The 71-year-old Barnes is looking to lead his team to the second Final Four of his coaching career and Tennessee's first ever.
An SEC vs. Big Ten matchup awaits in the Elite Eight. Which team will advance?
