The 2026 season is projected to be a tough one for the New York Jets as Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey are tasked with keeping the rebuild on track.
With the Jets making several key veteran moves in free agency to bring some leadership, but also depth to the roster, some think the franchise is poised to make a little climb up the AFC pecking order.
But don't forget, player acquisition is an all-year-round business in the NFL.
And it is here where ESPN's Jets reporter, Rich Cimini, has dropped an interesting nugget of information.
The Jets could look to add a weapon for Geno Smith.
"Don't sleep on the possibility of Mougey trading for a veteran," Cimini wrote. "It's already been an active offseason for wide receiver trades, and you're talking about a GM who has made 12 player trades in a little over a year. Brian Thomas Jr. (Jacksonville Jaguars), Rashod Bateman (Baltimore Ravens), Quentin Johnston (Los Angeles Chargers) and Dontayvion Wicks (Green Bay Packers) have been mentioned as trade possibilities."

Jets need weapons
The Jets, at the time of writing, have only one true weapon for Geno, and that's Garrett Wilson.
Of course, Adonai Mitchell also had some good moments last year, but aside from that? There isn't much else.
So, a move for a veteran could be a nice fit for the Jets as they look to put as many quality players on the roster ahead of next year's draft, where it is expected that they will draft a quarterback.
But could the franchise really go after someone like Brian Thomas Jr., or Quentin Johnson?
Cimini thinks so.
