Team USA gets incredible Mason Miller news from Mark DeRosa for WBC final

Team USA beat the Dominican Republic to advance to the World Baseball Classic finale, and they'll get to face Venezuela for the WBC title.

Paul Skenes helped them reach the finale, and so too did San Diego Padres closer Mason Miller. He made a big contribution in the semi-final and throughout the entire tournament. After such a big workload, it wouldn't be a surprise if he wasn't available for the final.

However, as USA Today's Bob Nightengale reports, Mark DeRosa announced that Miller will be available out of the bullpen tonight for the WBC final against Venezuela.

Padres' Mason Miller available for Team USA in finale vs. Venezuela

"San Diego Padres closer Mason Miller is indeed available tonight for the championship game against Venezuela," Nightengale shared from DeRosa's press conference.

This is some massive news for Team USA, as having Miller, the team's best closer, available to pitch will be a big help. The flame-throwing righty can pitch tonight for Team USA if needed.

Miller helped close out the Dominican Republic on Sunday night, and two days later, he's ready to go once more for Team USA against Venezuela for the WBC title.

Team USA is going for its first title since 2017, after losing in 2023 to Japan with the iconic Shohei Ohtani vs. Mike Trout at-bat to end the tournament.

Having Miller, a righty reliever with a career 2.81 ERA in the Major Leagues, available for the WBC finale is some massive news for Team USA. There was some doubt about whether he'd be available, but he's officially good to go.

Miller is the best reliever for Team USA, and with Nolan McLean starting, the Team USA bullpen might be used earlier in the game than when it was in the semi-final with Skenes on the mound.

But, at the end of the day, having Miller available out of the bullpen if needed is some incredible news for Team USA, as they now have a reliever ready to shut down Venezuela late in the game for a potential WBC-clinching outing.
