A pair of Team USA women's curling teammates have known each other for a long time.
Tabitha Peterson is the older sister to Tara Peterson, and they're both representing the United States at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina.
They're also trying to make history: The U.S. has never medaled in a women's curling event.
Team USA has already accomplished a curling first at these Games, getting a first-ever medal in the mixed doubles competition. The woman from that event, Cory Thiesse, is competing as well on the women's team.

Tabitha and Tara are originally from Minnesota, and they began curling at the St. Paul Curling Club.
“We didn’t really love it at first because we were more into other sports,” Tabitha told TeamUSA.com. “But as we started to make friends, and we got a little team and started traveling around the state and then to Wisconsin to little junior bonspiels, we started liking it and kind of just went from there.”
They find it easy to maintain their chemistry in the middle of competition.
“Communication is easy,” Tara told TeamUSA.com. “A lot of times, we’re just very in sync and a lot of non-verbal communication. Because you just know each other. You just know what’s going to happen. So, makes for an easy teammate.”

The United States has medaled at the world championships before in women's curling, which suggests their chances of doing the same at an Olympics are decent.
But this is as big as the stage gets. The pressure will be on as the competition advances toward the medal rounds.
At least the Peterson sisters have each other's backs. They always have, and they'll hope this time around, it leads to medals.
