"Tarik Skubal to Diamondbacks confirmed!" - Fans react to Tigers superstar linking up with NBA phenom

Tarik Skubal enjoyed a superb season in 2025. Finishing with a 13-6 record, a 2.21 ERA and 241 strikeouts, the southpaw took home the AL Cy Young award for the second consecutive year.

With baseball season now done and dusted, Skubal headed courtside to enjoy some NBA action as the Phoenix Suns took on the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday. Post game, he caught up with the Suns' main man, Devin Booker.

The Suns posted a clip of the two stars' interaction to Instagram.

"Devin Booker 🤝 Tarik Skubal" the post was captioned.

Though Skubal is the Tigers' most influential player, he is set to enter free agency once the 2026 season ends, and negotiations for an extension have yielded no results so far.

In an effort to salvage some value while they still can, the Tigers may be open to trading their ace this winter, and several excited Arizona Diamondbacks fans saw the Skubal-Booker friendship as a promising sign.

Tarik Skubal could be on his way to the New York Yankees, per insider

If the Detroit Tigers are to let one of the best pitchers in the major leagues go this offseason, they will expect some significant talent in return.

According to insider Jeff Passan, the New York Yankees possess several young pitching options on their roster that could be used to make the Tigers a worthwhile offer.

On Tuesday, baseball content page Talkin' Yanks relayed Passan's claims.

"ESPN's Jeff Passan lists the Yankees as one of a few teams that could land back-to-back Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal in a trade this offseason because they have pitchers that Detroit would take in return," Talkin' Yanks posted.

Cam Schlittler (24), Will Warren (26) and Luis Gil (27) are all solid young pitchers that are under team control for a number of years.
