'Take us both!': Ty Simpson urges Browns to draft him and Carnell Tate in bold pitch to Kay Adams

The Browns are doing their due diligence on the 2026 quarterback class, but Ty Simpson and Kay Adams are the ones stirring the pot on making a huge splash with Cleveland’s two first rounders.

During a recent appearance on the Up & Adams show, the Alabama signal-caller fueled draft rumors by pitching a "package deal" to a Browns team that holds the No. 6 and No. 24 picks. Pointing to himself and Ohio State star receiver Carnell Tate—who both took their "Top 30" visits to the Browns' facility on the same day—Simpson told Adams that he’d love to team up with his Buckeye buddy.

While Simpson and Adams are leaning into the narrative, the reality for Andrew Berry is more complex. The Browns are currently set to let sophomore Shedeur Sanders and veteran Deshaun Watson battle for the starting job. After Sanders showed flashes in seven starts last season, many believe Cleveland should spend 2026 seeing if he’s the real answer rather than taking another "QB flier" on a prospect like Simpson.

However, the personal connections are hard to ignore. New Browns head coach Todd Monken has been a fan of Simpson since his time at Georgia. At the Combine, Monken noted, “I like Ty a lot. Really good football player. His father was a Southern Miss alum, where I was head coach, so got to know them really well.”

Simpson echoed that sentiment, noting that his father, Jason, and Monken "go way back" and "talk often." He added, “I think I’d be in great hands... coach Monken, what he does with the quarterbacks and the offense is super quarterback-friendly.”

Sign me up for the Tate portion of this draft scenario as he would instantly compete for the top receiver spot on the Browns revamped offense. Pairing Simpson with him is a nice thought in theory, but with all the holes this franchise needs to fill, it’s a luxury pick that Berry can’t afford.
