Sweden and Slovenia bring their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign to an end when they square off at Friends Arena on Tuesday. Both sides have endured a disappointing run in the qualifiers and will be looking to draw the curtains on a positive note.
Heading into the final game of what has been a dismal World Cup qualifying campaign, Sweden are still chasing their first taste of victory, having suffered a 4-1 loss against Switzerland in Graham Potter’s first game as head coach on Saturday.
Potter’s men, who are 40th in the latest FIFA World Rankings, have managed one draw and lost four of their five matches so far to sit rock-bottom in the Group B standings.
Despite their star-studded attack, Sweden’s struggles have come in front of goal, where they have netted on just three occasions in the qualifiers, while also shipping 11 at the opposite end of the pitch.
Like their hosts, Slovenia were on the receiving end of another defeat at the weekend when they were beaten 2-0 by Kosovo on home turf.
With that result, Matjaz Kek's men have gone five straight matches without a win in the qualifiers, losing twice and claiming three draws to sit third in Group B, seven points off second-placed Kosovo.
Next up for Slovenia is the stern challenge of taking on an opposing side that they have failed to get the better of in any of their previous five attempts since 2008.

Sweden vs Slovenia Prediction
It has been a horror run from Sweden in the qualifiers, and they will look to end the campaign with their heads held high.
Slovenia have not performed any better, and while they will also look to finish on a positive note, we are tipping Potter's side to come out on top at Friends Arena.
Prediction: Sweden 2-0 Slovenia
