Sungjae Im stunts with hilarious Malbon outfit that proves PGA golfer is him

Coming off his best major performance at the Open Championship, Sungjae Im came to the 3M Open this week feeling confident, and it showed.

The 28-year-old golfer was the story of the first round on Thursday with his outfit, which turned heads in Minnesota. Im is the 77th-ranked player in the world, but that didn't stop him from displaying the most confidence of any player in the field this weekend.

Sungjae Im outfit

During the first round of the 3M Open in Minnesota on Thursday, Sungjae Im wore a sweater with "Sungjae HIM" written on the front. The sweater is part of Im's new deal with Malbon, the company that has worked with Jason Day for his outfits over the last few years.

Malbon is known for providing its partners creative outfits that fit their styles. In this case, teh company gave Im a sweater that included the fun play on his name for this week's tournament.

Earlier this year, Im became the latest golfer to join Malbon as a partner. The lifestyle brand was founded in 2017 and has since added several men's and women's golfers to its portfolio, including Jason Day, Anthony Kim, Fred Couples, Charley Hull and Minjee Lee.

Im, therefore, wore Malbon outfits at the majors this year, which included a green ensemble as he played in the Masters in April.

Malbon has built its business model around comfort, trying to market to casual golfers in a way that's different than most other brands.

"You don't have to dress like you're a tour player if you're not one," co-founder Stephen Malbon told Golf Monthly. "Yes, you have to wear a polo and tuck your shirt in and wear a belt. Got it. Other than that, wear whatever the hell you want, be comfortable."
