The Detroit Tigers have been an interesting team to watch this year. Still in the postseason hunt, they decided to trade away Casey Mize and Gage Workman to the San Diego Padres, but that was not all.
They also sent their bonafied ace, Tarik Skubal, to the Los Angeles Dodgers for a handful of prospects, and after that, many thought the team's postseason chances were done.
However, they have played solid baseball since letting go of two frontline starters, currently sitting just 1.5 games out of an AL wild card spot with a moderate schedule left ahead of them.

Successful week leads to Tigers' big bump in latest power rankings
Last week, the Tigers had two series against teams that aren't doing as well as they hoped they would be doing in 2026. They took on the Seattle Mariners in a three-game series before taking on the San Francisco Giants in a three-game series as well.
Both series were on the road, but that didn't matter that much as the Tigers were able to win both series 2-1. And with this, Bleacher Report's Joel Reuter bumps them up quite a few spots from No. 24 to No. 19 in his latest power rankings.
"The Tigers responded to trading away ace Tarik Skubal and fellow rotation mate Casey Mize with a pair of series wins, and despite the decision to cash in their most valuable trade chip, they are just 3.5 games back in the AL Central standings and one game out of a wild-card spot. It will be up to the young duo of Troy Melton and Jackson Jobe to step up in the rotation."
If the Tigers can keep this momentum going and capture a postseason spot, the front office is going to look like geniuses. However, there is still a ton of baseball yet to be played, and as fans know, anything can happen.
