Erik Spoelstra celebrates Giannis Antetokounmpo's fit within the Heat's system

After a few seasons of struggles, the Miami Heat finally have a megastar to lead the charge for them. While Bam Adebayo is a star for the Heat, he is not the typical one who can carry a team with his offensive play. That is where Giannis Antetokounmpo comes in, who is one of the league's best players.

Head coach Erik Spoelstra is clearly excited to have Antetokounmpo on his team because he has a star for his system. Adebayo will continue to feature in a prominent role, but he will be the second option behind the two-time league MVP.

The Heat have had championship aspirations even before Giannis joined the team. Unfortunately, they lacked the talent to fully compete with the best teams in the Eastern Conference. Pair that with constant injuries, and you have the Heat's inconsistency throughout the past few seasons.

Now that they have Antetokounmpo, they have a superstar who can carry his team to victories almost every night. Defensively, they are one of the most dangerous teams in the league because teams will be terrified of playing against a frontcourt duo of Adebayo and Antetokounmpo.

As the Heat's head coach, Spoelstra is excited to have Antetokounmpo around. It might have been a costly trade with all the players moving to the Milwaukee Bucks, but it seems Spo and his staff are only focused on maximizing the players they have on the current roster.

"We’ve seen him from the very beginning, but his ability to collapse your defense and all the different facets now... That creates a bunch of havoc to someone’s defense. We lived it. One extra defender is not enough," Spoelstra said to the Miami Herald's Anthony Chiang.

Now, Spoelstra will have an exciting couple of months ahead, as he will be looking for the best ways to maximize his superstar's talent. This could lead to the Heat challenging for the Eastern Conference crown, but that will be harder with teams elevating this offseason.
