Based on a story by Spielberg and a screenplay by David Koepp, Spielberg’s upcoming science-fiction film, Disclosure Day, is set to hit the theatres on June 12, 2026. While plot details are not fully disclosed, the film will reportedly explore the profound human impact of an official confirmation of extraterrestrial life.
The film's first trailer was recently unvieled by the Universal Pictures studio on December 16. Featuring Emily Blunt, Josh O'Connor, Colin Firth, Colman Domingo, Eve Hewson, and Wyatt Russell in its vast ensemble, the film's trailer shows the characters terrified by the prospect that we are not alone in a vast universe.

Disclosure Day trailer begins with Emily Blunt questioning about the chilling existence of other beings in the universe other than what they can already comprehend. She says:
"If you found out we weren't alone... if someone showed you, proved it to you... would that frighten you?"Emily Blunt’s character, appearing as a local news weather reporter in Kansas City, walks onto a green-screen set and as she begins to speak, her speech becomes stuck in a repetitive loop, and her physical movements begin to "glitch" or stutter, mirroring a corrupted digital file.
The scene soon shifts to Josh O’Connor’s character saying:
"People have a right to know the truth. It belongs to 7 billion people".With all the unsettling visuals featured in Spielberg’s Disclosure Day trailer, the upcoming sci-fi film appears to be a high-stakes thriller about the the truth of extraterrestrial life is a terrifying burden that belongs to all humanity.

Josh O’Connor, who gained international acclaim as Prince Charles in The Crown and starred in the 2024 hit Challengers, plays a central figure in the film as well. O'Connor most recently appeared alongside Daniel Craig in Wake Up Dead Man and Kelly Reichardt's hiest film, The Mastermind.
Disclosure Day also features Colman Domingo, Wyatt Russell, Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, among other actors. Releasing on June 12, 2026, the film is currently under post production phase after the filming wrapped up this year in May.
