Stephon Castle projected to be an All-Star alongside Victor Wembanyama in the 26-27 season

For the 2026-27 NBA season, the San Antonio Spurs now have high expectations. They just had a run to the NBA Finals, and they might have lost, but their potential is still extremely high. Victor Wembanyama is the primary reason behind that potential, but he does have awesome teammates alongside him.

Amongst those teammates, it seems Stephon Castle is the breakout player. He has been excellent in his first two NBA seasons, but in the 2026-27 campaign, he could be an All-Star. With how he played in the Playoffs, there is solid potential for the young Castle to do so.

Richard Jefferson believes Stephon Castle is set to be an All-Star

Since getting drafted fourth overall in the 2024 NBA Draft, Castle has been an excellent player for the Spurs. It has only been a couple of seasons, but it is already known that he will be a long-term option for the Spurs. He plays extremely well on defense, but he also has upside on the offensive end.

During the Spurs' run in the 2026 Playoffs, Castle proved that he can hang with the best players in the league. He was the key to slowing two-time MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander down in the Western Conference Finals between the Spurs and the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Moving forward, Castle will have some work to do. There were still some disappointing moments from the postseason run, which is to be expected from a 21-year-old. He averaged 16.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 7.4 assists per game in his second season, and people like Richard Jefferson see a potential uptick in the 2026-27 campaign.

"I think San Antonio will be number one, and that means typically you get two All-Stars. Now I look at that team, and I’m saying like I think Castle is going to have a bigger role, right? He’s going to have more opportunity, he’s going to have more confidence," Jefferson said about Castle on The Road Trippin' Show.

It is a big deal for the Spurs to get a player like Castle to elevate his game. Most people see the team as one centered on Wembanyama. It is an accurate statement, but people do get caught up in not praising his impressive supporting cast.
