The NASCAR regular season is officially over, as of last night. The Coke Zero Sugar 400 brought the heat to Daytona, which means there will be no Cup Series race on Sunday.
Not to worry, fans — there is still plenty of NASCAR action to look forward to with the upcoming playoff Chase about to get underway. Saturday's Daytona race cemented the elite field, with Denny Hamlin leading the pack, followed by Ryan Blaney and Ty Gibbs.
Drivers will now head into an extensive playoff period, spanning 10 races in two months. NASCAR uses a "Chase" format, in which each of the 16 qualified competitors will have their point totals reset, evening the playing field. There will be no eliminations, and whoever has the most points at the end of the Chase will claim the Cup Series title.
All the action will get started in Darlington next week with the Cook Out Southern 500.
