Stephen Curry injury news just made life even worse for Warriors

Monday was rough for the Golden State Warriors for two reasons.

In addition to the Stein Line’s Jake Fischer presenting multiple obstacles to a potential Giannis Antetokounmpo trade (Antetokounmpo may not want to play with an aging Warriors squad and risk being criticized for making a Kevin Durant-like move to the Dubs), Golden State received unfortunate injury news on Stephen Curry that made life even worse.

“Officially listed as patellofemoral pain syndrome (runner's knee) for Steph Curry. Out tomorrow vs. the (Philadelphia) Sixers. Getting persistent treatment on that right knee,” Anthony Slater wrote on X/twitter.

Dr. Nirav Pandaya, a professor of UCSF Orthopedic Surgery, took things a step further under Slater’s social media post by breaking down what the injury is and what caused Curry to fall victim to it.

“Patellofemoral pain syndrome is a blanket term used to describe irritation of the structures/tissues around the knee cap,” Pandaya said. “Age and increased workload are risk factors. Key for treatment is rest and physical therapy modalities.”

Missing out on Antetokounmpo and losing Stephen Curry for a lengthy period would be a nightmare scenario for the Warriors. Golden State is already without its second-best player, Jimmy Butler, due to an ACL injury, making Curry’s injury news untimely in every way imaginable.

Hopefully, for the Warriors’ sake, they end the week strong by striking a deal for Antetokounmpo and receiving a positive new update on Curry’s injury status moving forward.
