Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers still have some time before they reach a free agent deal.
That's the latest intel from Yahoo's national NFL reporter Charles Robinson.
Here's Robinson's prediction on the matter in a new article out Monday.
"For now, smart money has Rodgers and the Steelers getting something done just before the June full-squad minicamp," Robinson writes.
Here's the logic behind that, according to Robinson.
"Realistically, Rodgers sidelining himself from football all the way to late July would be a surprise, given that he knows the risks of walking into a completely new environment at the last possible moment," Robinson writes. "Not just from a chemistry standpoint with teammates, but also logically with just getting reps down in a June introduction to the rest of the team, before a break and then resumption of work when training camp kicks off."
Robinson's article explained that the Steelers may want to wait on Rodgers so as to not invite questions on why he isn't at certain offseason activities.
Head coach Mike Tomlin has pretty much made clear he wants any new QB in the building by training camp.
And as long as this saga has felt already, Rodgers still does have plenty of time to finish off the negotiation and still show up by training camp.

Pittsburgh currently has Will Howard, Mason Rudolph and Skylar Thompson under contract at QB.
The Steelers and Rodgers both don't really have other options.
Conceptually, a team like the Saints could pursue Rodgers, but it doesn't seem like they are.
And the Steelers could try to trade for Kirk Cousins, but that's about the only other established veteran who might be available.
So it's fair to expect a deal to get done. Robinson just thinks it'll still be a while.
