Steelers predicted to pull off blockbuster trade for electric 504-yard wide receiver

We are just days away from the Nov. 4 NFL trade deadline and the Pittsburgh Steelers have yet to make a significant move to improve their wide receiver situation.

Steelers fans know the deal here: the team hasn't had an adequate wide receiver situation since last season and Pittsburgh is lacking a No. 2 behind DK Metcalf.

A trade seems inevitable, but how big the Steelers go remains to be seen. In 2024, the Steelers went small with the trade for Mike Williams and that simply did not pan out, as Williams failed to make an impact.

Clutch Points' Bailey Bassett wants general manager Omar Khan to do something bigger, so he's predicting the Steelers will pull off a blockbuster trade for Miami Dolphins wide receiver Jaylen Waddle.

Bassett projects the Steelers would give up a 2026 second-round pick for such a deal.

Jaylen Waddle could be on the trade block. The Miami Dolphins' Week 8 win may have just delayed the inevitable of a Mike McDaniel firing and a Dolphins' rebuild. If the Dolphins do blow things up, Waddle may secure the biggest trade return for them. The receiver is still just 26 years old. His pairing with Tyreek Hill never quite lived up to its potential, but Waddle has proven production and room to grow as a player.

This trade would be a dream scenario for the Steelers.

A pairing of Metcalf and Waddle would be one of the better one-two punches at wide receiver in the NFL and would instantly upgrade the offense.

Waddle is a menace all over the field, but he can also take the top off a defense with his elite speed. Despite the dysfunctional situation in Miami, he has still tallied 504 receiving yards and four scores this season. At that pace, he'd finish with nearly 1,100 yards this season.

Adding to all that, Waddle is just 26 years old and his contract, which has a very reasonable annual average of $28.2 million, extends through 2028, so Waddle would be a long-term solution for the Steelers.

Unfortunately, a Waddle trade remains unlikely, according to several rumors we've seen over the last few weeks.

"Multiple league execs expect the Dolphins' no-trade stance to stand, barring a surprise," ESPN's Jeremy Fowler said of Waddle this week.

Perhaps the 2-6 Dolphins will change their stance the closer we get to the deadline, and if it does, Khan should absolutely make a strong offer to try and bring Waddle in.
