The Pittsburgh Steelers' offense will look a lot different in 2025, especially the quarterback position. Pittsburgh let both Russell Wilson and Justin Fields walk in free agency, and are set to have a new starter for the third consecutive year.
The Steelers added Mason Rudolph through free agency and Will Howard through the draft, but neither player is capable of being a full-time starter, which is why ESPN's Matt Bowen predicts Pittsburgh will finally sign free agent quarterback Aaron Rodgers to be their starting signal-caller this year.
"All signs are pointing at Rodgers heading to Pittsburgh, where he will have a strong run game foundation under coordinator Arthur Smith and a play-action system that can keep the pocket firm. The quick game will play a role here, too, given Rodgers' accelerated release time and field vision. And his No. 1 option would be newly acquired receiver DK Metcalf, who thrives at creating explosive plays," Bowen wrote.
Rodgers has been linked to the Steelers for nearly the entire offseason, and even visited the franchise's facility in March. A week before the draft, the future Hall of Famer appeared on The Pat McAfee Show and stated that he isn't in a rush to make a decision regarding his future. Retirement is still a possibility for the 41-year-old.
If Rodgers doesn't retire, he will likely land in Pittsburgh. Though the four-time league MVP isn't the same player he once was and is past his prime, Rodgers is still a solid starting quarterback and could lead the Steelers to the playoffs and possibly make a run. Additionally, the ten-time Pro Bowler shouldn't demand a massive deal, as he is getting older and his future after the 2025 season is very uncertain.
Obviously, Rodgers isn't a long-term solution at quarterback for Pittsburgh. However, out of all the options on the market, he gives them the best chance to win a Super Bowl in 2025.
