Steelers get intriguing rumor on Kyler Murray before pending Cardinals release

1 hour ago 2

Maybe the most fascinating account on NFL Twitter (well, X) is Rickey Scoops.

It's presented as a parody account, except time and again, Rickey is out in front of real news that happens across the NFL.

So when Rickey posts something, it's not necessarily something to trust right away. But it's a rumor that usually has real legs to it.

That's why Pittsburgh Steelers fans are now wondering about Kyler Murray. Late Tuesday night, Rickey Scoops posted that the Murray sweepstakes is down to the Vikings and the Steelers.

Pittsburgh needs a QB still, and if there's concern about Aaron Rodgers actually coming back, then Murray would be a logical option.

Rickey did add that the Vikings are believed to be a front-runner.

Adding to the confusion is that sometime on Wednesday, Rickey Scoops' account has disappeared from X, so that's another odd happening amid this maybe-true rumor.

Rickey recently was out in front of Wan'Dale Robinson going to the Titans, so he's still plugged in of late. It's safe to assume the Steelers have at least looked into Murray.

The former No. 1 overall pick is expected to be officially released by the Cardinals at 4 p.m. ET on Wednesday when the new league year starts.

Then, he'll have a few places to choose from, including seemingly Minnesota and Pittsburgh.

Murray was the 2019 Rookie of the Year and a two-time Pro Bowler. He threw for more than 20,000 yards and ran for more than 3,000 with the Cardinals. He also had 121 passing TDs and ran for 32 scores.

Would he fit in Pittsburgh? If Rodgers isn't back, it could be the Steelers' best solution, but there's still plenty to be determined here.
