Steelers' Aaron Rodgers oddball MVS decisions cost Pittsburgh, open up AFC North for Ravens

Aaron Rodgers trusted his old friend to a fault.

The Pittsburgh Steelers needed a touchdown to tie (or take the lead potentially) against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.

And on three out of four plays, Rodgers targeted Marquez Valdes-Scantling.

The pair had played together with the Packers. Rodgers clearly likes MVS, and he's probably the reason the wideout got signed by Pittsburgh in the first place.

With DK Metcalf suspended, Valdes-Scantling became a main target for Rodgers against the fierce Browns defense.

But MVS has never been a threat down in the red zone. He's more of a deep speed guy.

That didn't stop Rodgers from trying him three times.

The first two, MVS didn't even run the route Rodgers was expecting.

The third, Rodgers threw a jump ball that was nowhere near being caught by Valdes-Scantling.

And with that, the Steelers lost to the Browns, 13-6.

Pittsburgh will play a win-and-in, lose-and-out game against the Ravens in Week 18 for the AFC North.

The Steelers would've won the division with a victory. Instead, their playoff lives are on the line in Week 18.

And it's in part because Rodgers didn't look anywhere other than MVS in crunch time.
