Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes could soon cross paths with another reigning champion on SmackDown. The 310 lb star already has unfinished business with The American Nightmare and could soon join the blue brand's locker room. Before you continue, be warned that this article contains spoilers for the December 26, 2025, SmackDown tapings.

The next week’s SmackDown taping featured a hype package for Oba Femi. The reigning two-time NXT Champion had faced Cody Rhodes at the December 13, 2025, edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event. Although both stars put on a great match, fans didn’t see a decisive finish due to interference from Drew McIntyre.

Offended by the Scotsman ruining his match, The Ruler attacked McIntyre and Chokeslammed him in the middle of the ring. It isn’t clear when Femi will make his way to SmackDown, as wrestlers can take several weeks to join a brand.

Former TNA World Champion reportedly to come face-to-face with Cody Rhodes on WWE SmackDown

While it may take Oba Femi some time to make the main roster switch, Trick Williams has already become part of WWE SmackDown. According to BodySlam’s Cory Hayes, who reported it via a tweet on X, Trick Williams’ name now appears on the internal roster of the blue brand.

The former TNA World Champion, two-time NXT Champion, and NXT North American Champion also recorded a backstage segment with Cody Rhodes. The December 26, 2025, taping of the Friday Night Show will see Williams meet The American Nightmare in Nick Aldis's office.

Williams’ fans have been anticipating a main roster call-up for him since he lost the NXT Championship for the second time. However, he was involved in joint storylines between NXT and TNA and also part of the NXT versus TNA Showdown.

Interestingly, Williams’ friend and rival, Carmelo Hayes, fought his first main roster match against Cody Rhodes after being drafted to SmackDown in 2024. It would be interesting to see whether the 31-year-old star’s meeting with Rhodes in the GM’s office leads to him facing the Undisputed Champion as well.
