On November 11, South Korea’s president forewarned that hateful speech on social media will be treated as "crimes that must be punished as such." Lee Jae-myung presented the issue at the Central-Local Cooperation Conference at the Presidential Office in Yongsan.

“We can no longer overlook hate or disinformation disguised as opinion," adding that the government must “draw a clear boundary between legitimate speech and incitement that endangers the public," the President stated.

Following this, K-pop fans are urging entertainment agencies to adopt stronger measures to guard artists from malicious content. For instance, ARMYs are pushing HYBE’s BIGHIT MUSIC to take decisive steps on behalf of Jungkook. The BTS maknae has newly faced criticism amid dating rumors involving aespa’s Winter.

"Bighit get those lawyers ready I need you to sue all these keyboard warriors spreading misinformation about Jungkook," an X user commented.

Fans are also calling on other agencies to take defensive measures. These include BH Entertainment, YG Entertainment for BLACKPINK, THEBLACKLABEL for Jeon Somi, SOURCE MUSIC for LE SSERAFIM, and several others.

This should have been done last year when le sserafim were harassed for the most ridiculous reasons to the point they turned off their ig comments section because of the harassment they got. Tho they are still getting harassment til this day @SOURCEMUSIC you better do your job

Oh well.. now you're gonna work your a*s off @THEBLACKLABEL taking a legal action for Jeon Somi who's constantly getting a fomo hates and death threats since last year.

President Lee’s message about online hatred quickly prompted ARMY to convey their support, particularly for Jungkook. He has recently faced home intrusions and death threats following false dating rumors circulated online since concluding his military service this June.

The most recent incident involving the artist occurred when online abusers used his photos, manipulating them with AI tools. They dispersed a fabricated story claiming he dated four separate women.

The false assertions continued to spread rapidly, damaging his public image and generating a wave of criticism. Fans also pointed out that individuals who had previously spread misinformation about Jungkook faced legal outcomes. For instance, Jungkook and BIGHIT MUSIC have already secured several court victories against individuals who spread slanderous claims.

Offenders residing abroad were not exempt from legal consequences. South Korean courts have ruled that cross-border slander can still lead to retribution. That point was underscored by the most recent verdict. Park Joo-ah (the creator behind the YouTube channel Sojang) was convicted of disseminating falsified stories about seven idols, among them V and Jungkook.

The court handed her a two-year prison sentence, three years of probation, and a monetary penalty of 210 million KRW. She must also pay 90 million KRW in damages to both Bangtan Boys and the agency for the damage caused.

To date, neither Jungkook nor BIGHIT MUSIC has publicly addressed the issue.
