Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) keeper-batter Jitesh Sharma has revealed the anecdote behind the viral video of mocking Chennai Super Kings' fans and facing their wrath amid IPL 2025. The 32-year-old revealed that he said it in a sarcastic manner and was seemingly mocked by the DJ when he got dismissed against the same opposition at the Chepauk Stadium.

In a video that went viral on social media, the RCB media personnel had asked their cricketers about what comes to their mind first when they think of Chennai. With the cameras pointing to Jitesh, the explosive right-handed batter had sarcastically sung in a South Indian accent, 'Dosa, Idli, Sambar, Chutney Chutney'. The particular moment had garnered plenty of attention.

Speaking to Sports Yaari recently, the RCB star opened up on the decision and said:

"No offense. But seriously, I was at the airport that day and our media team was asking everyone, ‘What comes to your mind first when you land in Chennai?’ So, I said coconut water, heat. So, they said this answer was given by everyone. Then I said Dosa Idli are there and it’s very good in South India. Then some guy was there nearby and he said this reel is going viral and he asked me to say, ‘Dosa idli sambhar Chutney, Chutney’. Then I said it in a sarcastic way. Then I understood there is some meaning to it. When I got dismissed after I went to bat, DJ started playing that song."

Although Jitesh had been out for 12 off 6 in that match against the Super Kings, RCB went on to win that game convincingly by 50 runs.

Following a drought-breaking victory at the Chepauk, the Royal Challengers clinched a final-over thriller at the Chinnaswamy Stadium later in the tournament. With the Yellow Army chasing 214 for victory, they fell short by a couple of runs.

Bengaluru also ended their title drought this year when they beat the Punjab Kings in the final. Jitesh played a key role, amazing 261 runs at a whopping strike-rate of 176.35, which paved the way for a recall to the Indian T20 setup.
