The 2025 WTA Finals are scheduled to take place in Riyadh between November 1 and 8, and the tournament promises exciting action as it will feature eight of the best women's tennis stars of the year, including the likes of Coco Gauff and Iga Swiatek. However, fans have recently been left frustrated with the lack of promotion for the event and they were quick to make their feelings known about the same.
The WTA Finals marks the end of the season for the women's tennis tour. The event is the most prestigious tournament on the calendar after the four Grand Slams and as such is held in high regard by many fans and players alike. A key tradition of the event is the photoshoot which features the eight best players of the world and the tournament trophy.
With the tour finals scheduled to begin on November 1, fans have been waiting expectantly for the snaps from the photoshoot. However, the WTA is yet to make these public, leaving many tennis enthusiasts frustrated. Reacting to this seeming lack of promotion, on X user slammed the tournament, writing,
“This is so f**king embarrassing and disrespectful towards fans and especially players! This photoshoot took place 7-8 hours ago and still nothing! WTA Finals used to be a prestigious event.”“This is so f**king embarrassing and disrespectful towards fans and especially players! This photoshoot took place 7-8 hours ago and still nothing! Another fan expressed a similar opinion, writing,
“Once again, the WTA isn't promoting the biggest event they organize with the eight queens of the season. Photoshoot day, and there's not even a SINGLE post. How can we promote women's tennis if the organization in charge of women's tennis doesn't even do it? What a shame.”“Once again, the WTA isn't promoting the biggest event they organize with the eight queens of the season. Photoshoot day, and there's not even a SINGLE post. Here is how other tennis enthusiasts reacted to the WTA’s apparent lack of promotion for the Tour Finals:
“WTA finals in Riyadh is a f**king flop. Unlike any other finals, everything feels like it's conducted behind closed doors. WTF is the point of celebrating the 8 best players of the season if not a single fan can see it except the meagre audience in a country that hates women?” one fan wrote. “Get the WTA finals back to Singapore. Finals in Saudi is the definition of sport washing. They clearly don't give a crap about promoting it unlike whenever the men are there for an exho they go all out,” another added. “Honestly Penko promoted her vacuum more than this tournament promoted its girls,” one X user commented. “Maybe we need to start questioning if the wta finals itself is even happening,” yet another fan chimed in.2025 WTA Finals: Full list of players and groups
