After her loss at the latest edition of WWE Saturday Night's Main Event, fans believe that a top name from the Stamford-based company could be AEW bound soon. The star in question, Bayley, has been involved with the sports entertainment juggernaut for well over a decade now.
This weekend, WWE hosted the 42nd iteration of Saturday Night's Main Event, a special show presenting the blockbuster final match of John Cena among a number of other bouts. The program notably featured the promotion's main roster names going head-to-head against some of NXT's best and brightest, with AJ Styles and Dragon Lee defeating Je'Von Evans and Leon Slater, and Cody Rhodes battling Oba Femi to a No Contest.
In one such bout, former WWE NXT North American Champion Sol Ruca picked up an upset win over former Women's Champion Bayley. The outcome undoubtedly legitimizes the up-and-comer, as she now holds a victory over one of the revered Four Horsewomen.
However, a number of viewers have since taken to X/Twitter to question WWE's decision of booking Bayley to lose once again at SNME, in the midst of ongoing discussions regarding the company's utilization of a star of her calibre. A number of fans brought up the possibility of the former Damage CTRL member jumping ship to AEW for a run in the Jacksonville-based company. One user even suggested that Bayley could pursue the recently introduced AEW World Tag Team Titles alongside her close friend and former tag partner, Mercedes Mone.
I hope we get a Bayley AEW run where she can go and wrestle in big matches consistently #AEWCollision #AEW #AEWDynamite
Bayley you wanna go after the AEW Tag Titles with Mercedes SOOOOOOOO BAD
Sol ruca won The future is now have fun in AEW bayley 🫡
Bayley is going to AEW lol #SNME
Earlier this past April, Bayley revealed in an interview that she still had a year and a half left on her current deal.
AEW champion Mercedes Mone on wrestling Bayley
A number of wrestling fans are interested in seeing Bayley appear on AEW programming not only to wrestle fresh new opponents like Kris Statlander, Willow Nightingale, Megan Bayne and even Toni Storm, but also to see the former multi-time WWE champion lock horns once again with Mercedes Mone, ideally with her TBS Title on the line.
The CEO does not seem that eager to face off against her long-time partner and rival, however. When a user on X/Twitter responded to Mercedes' post asking for opponents she could face next year with Bayley's name, the erstwhile Sasha Banks answered by seemingly turning down the idea and hilariously claiming that the "Hugger" could not tell the difference between Matt and Nick Jackson (aka The Young Bucks).
"Pppppprrr. She doesn’t even know the difference between Nick and Matt Jackson," she wrote.Pppppprrr 🙂↔️she doesn’t even know the difference between Nick and Matt Jackson.
It remains to be seen if Bayley will meet "Ultimo" Mone in an All Elite ring anytime soon.
