There’s booing and using some NSFW language and then there’s making your own homemade sign to show your disdain for Juan Soto.
The SNY booth had a good chuckle about a Yankees fan who brought a big photo of Soto’s face with a “Boo this man!” caption on tap and “Boooooooo” written beneath the photo to Friday night’s 6-2 Yankees’ triumph in the opener of the three-game subway series.
“OK,” Keith Hernandez said with a laugh while SNY showed the fan in the fourth inning a 4-0 game, “I hope you feel better, sir.”
The booth then delved into the craftsmanship behind the sign.
“Outstanding arts and crafts,” former Mets pitcher Ron Darling said.
SNY play-by-play man Gary Cohen responded: “What font did he use?”

How the Yankees fan responded to Soto served as the biggest storyline of this game, with many wondering just how loud the boos would get for the 2024 Yankees star.
The boos reached Jose Altuve levels, with fans booing Soto mercilessly throughout the game and even chanting “F–k Juan Soto” like they do for Altuve, the face of the Astros’ cheating scandal that some believe cost the Yankees at least one championship in the 2010s.
The Blecher Creatures in right field even turned their backs on him when he ran out to the position in the first inning.
Soto opted to leave the Yankees this offseason despite their offer being worth just $5 million less over one additional year than the Mets’, although Soto has bonuses he can obtain with the Mets to widen that gap.
The outfielder represents the rare star who has told the Yankees “no” and to choose the Mets instead is a shock to the system that Yankees fans are not used to.
Soto, to his credit, handled it well publicly.

He tipped his helmet to the fans during his first plate appearance — a walk — even while you would have thought he’s the greatest Red Sox who ever lived to the level of vitriol.
Soto went 0-for-2 with three walks and one run scored, and will have another chance to silence the Yankees’ fans for Saturday’s matinee contest at 1:05 p.m. ET.
