The LA Clippers are languishing at the bottom of the Western Conference standings, but head coach Ty Lue has a huge goal in mind. Lue told reporters before their game against the LA Lakers on Saturday that their goal is to finish the regular season at 41-41.
According to ESPN's Dave McMenamin, Lue wants the Clippers to have a 35-20 record starting with Saturday's game at the Intuit Dome. It's a tall task considering their current record of 6-21, with James Harden and Kawhi Leonard playing the majority of their games.
The Clippers enter the Lakers matchup on a five-game losing streak and with just one win in their last 10 games. It has been a rough campaign for Steve Ballmer's franchise, which made headlines a couple of weeks ago for what they did to Chris Paul.

NBA fans online found it hilarious that Ty Lue was confident that the LA Clippers would get 41 wins this season. While it's not impossible, the Clippers have to start playing much better starting on Saturday.
Nevertheless, here are some of the reactions on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Ty Lue been smoking the same trees Kawhi and Steve Balmer been stealing
Why do they refuse to blow it up? Harden and Kawhi’s value is only gonna get lower as the years go on.
Only NBA has such bad franchises with no goals or plans that they don't even fire their coach bc it would be irrelevant
Just tank and draft… nvm ain’t got their pick 😆 OKC said..Snatchies 😆
So their “goal” is to finish .500 and still not even be a play in team ☠️
Gifting OKC a lottery pick. Clippers need to be relegated as a franchise.
The LA Clippers are stuck between a rock and a hard place since they can't "tank" and start a rebuild. They don't own their draft pick in next year's draft. It was traded to the OKC Thunder years ago in the Paul George deal that never resulted in an NBA championship.
Lue has been in charge of the Clippers since 2020, helping them reach their first Western Conference Finals in 2021. However, they could be heading for a rebuild if things don't pan out this season.
Austin Rivers calls out Ty Lue's lack of success
Former LA Clippers player Austin Rivers didn't mince his words about Ty Lue and his success after helping LeBron James win the 2016 NBA championship in Cleveland. Rivers called out Lue on the latest episode of his "Off Guard" podcast.
"I don't like the way they’ve handled multiple situations," Rivers said, according to ClutchPoints. "To be quite honest, I don’t like how they handled my situation. I don’t know if that is a Lawrence Frank, Ty Lue, neither have gotten enough blame in my opinion. Ty Lue is always blaming somebody else. Bro, you haven't done sh*t since you weren't coaching LeBron."While Lue appears to be in the hot seat, he still remains in charge of the Clippers. It should also be pointed out that he replaced Austin's father, Doc Rivers, as coach of the Clippers in 2020.
