"Sloppy": Mike Brown calls out Knicks weakness after Game 3 loss to Hawks

The New York Knicks, for the first since Jalen Brunson arrived, are down 2-1 in the NBA Playoffs. For a majority of Game 3 against the Atlanta Hawks, they could not get any sort of momentum. OG Anunoby and some miracle threes saved them from a larger deficit in the clutch but those were just not enough. Coach Mike Brown immediately diagnosed what went wrong for the Knicks after their 109-108 loss to go down 2-1.

Brown calls out Knicks' sloppy NBA Playoffs performance vs. Hawks

Coach Mike Brown did all that he could in terms of schemes and rotations to get the Knicks back in Game 3 of the NBA Playoffs series. They did get close and even took the lead entering the final minute of the game. However, he posits that a lot of the mistakes that the Hawks forced them to commit snowballed into a bad situation for the Knicks in the clutch.

The Knicks head coach outlined they were struggling in turnovers, rebounding, and creating more possessions, via the NBA.

"We know we did not play our best basketball, that does not take anything away from the Hawks... Both teams were sloppy. We had (15) turnovers and they had 16 turnovers. In a game that's physical, it was bound to happen. The team that takes care of the ball, doesn't allow the other team to get to the free throw line while limiting the offensive rebounds is going to have a chance to win it. Because, you are going to have to win the possession game," Coach Brown said.

The Knicks head coach does make sense here. If not for some huge shots in the clutch, the Hawks were leading them by as many as 18 points in this NBA Playoffs game. A huge part of it was because the Hawks managed to steal the ball 10 times from the Knicks and score 21 points off turnovers.

Brunson and his squad could also not finish around the rim that well. The Hawks were sealing the rim and got eight blocks to prevent the Knicks from getting any momentum. Adding the fact that two of the Knicks starters Josh Hart and Mikal Bridges, only combined for two points also made for a horrendous recipe which led to an NBA Playoffs loss.

A lot needs to change so that the Knicks do not fall 3-1 to the Hawks and extend their NBA Playoffs run. Can Brunson and Coach Brown correct their failures come Game 4?
