Shedeur Sanders has sparked speculation on getting the starting quarterback role for the Cleveland Browns amid the team's BYE in Week 9. Sanders has been serving as the backup to fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel, who is 1-3 as a starter.
On Thursday, JaKi, a self-proclaimed “independent CU Buffs creator,” uploaded a video on X in which Sanders was livestreaming and said he wasn't returning to Colorado for its homecoming game this weekend to remain in Cleveland.
"I'm not coming to CU homecoming," Sanders said. "I wish I could though. I got treatment out here. I gotta get ready. Big ready."•

Although it's unclear what Sanders meant, he has given some reason to believe that he might be considered to replace Gabriel for Cleveland's Week 10 game against the New York Jets on Nov. 9. A few others have also felt that Sanders might be looking to work on his game during Cleveland's BYE Week, instread of heading back to Colorado, where he played the final two years of his college career.
Sanders began the season as the Browns' third-string quarterback. However, he moved up to QB2 after the team traded Joe Flacco.

"Every position you have to look at, but with a young quarterback, there are going to be ups and downs," Stefanksi said when asked if he would consider benching Gabriel.The Browns took Gabriel with the No. 94 pick in this year's draft, and selected Shedeur Sanders 50 picks later.
However, Sanders has yet to play a snap in the NFL for the Browns, who are at the bottom of the AFC North with a 2-6 record.
