“She works the hardest ”: Steve Stricker reveals the 'most competitive' golfer in his family

Steve Stricker opened up about the most competitive golfer in his family. The American golfer is playing this week at the PNC Championship with his daughter, Izzy Stricker. The duo had an amazing start to their game in the opening round of the event.

In the post-round press conference, Stricker was joined by his daughter and wife, Nicki. The American golfer talked about his game and also reflected on his family. He talked about his daughters and wife and said:

"We have so much fun with it. It's fun to watch all their games develop, you know, each and every year. I mean, we got two of them that are aspiring -- I think Izzi will probably try to play professionally, too, the way she's going. Bobbi is doing that now. It's fun to see their work ethic. "Nobody works harder than Nicki. She works the hardest and is probably the most competitive out of all of us. It's fun to see her try to get better, too. She continues to work at it and the girls see that and they adopt that work ethic and see the desire that she has. Yeah, it's a good atmosphere for all of us to be in," she added.

Steve Stricker has been married to Nicki, and they have two kids, daughters Bobbi and Izzy. Team Stricker settled in third place after the opening round at the PNC Championship. Team Kuchar took the lead in the game, while Team Daly settled in second place.

Steve Stricker opens up about his game at the PNC Championship

Steve Stricker and daughter Izzy started their outing on the first tee. They made six consecutive birdies from the second hole to the seventh hole and then added another birdie on the ninth.

On the back nine, the team added five birdieson the back nine for a round of 12-under 60. In the post-round press conference, Stricker talked about his game. He said (via APAP Sports):

"Our goal was to get off to a fast start; then we missed a pretty makable putt for birdie at No. 1, which always isn't ideal, but then we followed it up with I think five or six in a row. So that got us going. We made some good putts in there. Hit some nice shots in there. Just kept going. Couple hiccups on the back side, but overall it was a good day. It was a day where it could have been a few shots lower but we also did some good things, too."

This week’s event also features some big names such as Nelly Korda, Annika Sorenstam, Vijay Singh, and others.

Steve Stricker has had an impressive career on the PGA Tour so far. He has won 41 tournaments, including 12 on the PGA Tour. He currently plays on the PGA Tour Champions, and this season, he has only played in four events.

His last outing was at the American Family Insurance Championship, where he carded three rounds of 64, 66, and 65 and settled in a tie for second place.
