Paris Jackson Slams Colman Domingo Over Michael Jackson Biopic Comments
This is it.
Indeed, Lionsgate released the first teaser for Michael starring Michael Jackson’s nephew Jaafar Jackson Nov. 6, who is the spitting image of his late uncle.
Jaafar does a complete transformation in clips of Michael including ones of him taking the stage for fans, accepting his Grammys and doing his signature Moon Walk while Quincy Jones (Kendrick Sampson) gives him a peptalk from the studio.
Finally, Michael walks up to the microphone in the recording booth and asks, “Q, can you lower the lights for me, please?” before flashing his signature grin and laugh.
The teaser—set to a mashup of Michael’s hits “Wanna be Startin’ Something,” "Beat It” and "Human Nature”—ends with clips from various eras of the singer’s life from childhood, to filming the “Thriller” music video and one final iconic dance scene.
The trailer earned praise from Michael’s son Prince Jackson, who celebrated his cousin’s performance.
“Excited for the world to see this,” Prince wrote alongside a clip of the trailer on Instagram Nov. 6. “So proud of everyone involved in this but none more than my cousin @jaafarjackson. The world’s not ready for you cuz.”
Michael—directed by Antione Fuqua—also stars Miles Teller as attorney John Branca, Colman Domingo as Joseph Jackson, Nia Long as Katherine Jackson, Larenz Tate as Barry Gordy and Kat Graham as Diana Ross.
The film, set for an April 2026 release date, will highlight the life of the late King of Pop—who died in 2009—both on and off stage.
“The film tells the story of Michael Jackson’s life beyond the music,” a synopsis for the movie read. “Tracing his journey from the discovery of his extraordinary talent as the lead of the Jackson 5, to the visionary artist whose creative ambition fueled a relentless pursuit to become the biggest entertainer in the world.”
“Highlighting both his life off-stage and some of the most iconic performances from his early solo career, the film gives audiences a front-row seat to Michael Jackson as never before,” it continued. “This is where his story begins.”
The world got the first look at Jaafar—who is the son of Jermaine Jackson and ex-wife Alejandra Genevieve Oaziaza—as he stepped into the role in January 2023.
“I’m humbled and honored to bring my Uncle Michael’s story to life,” Jaafar wrote on Instagram alongside a picture of him from rehearsals at the time. “To all the fans all over the world, I’ll see you soon.”
