Back then, we were all confused. 'A' kept coming back over and over again, and no one ever thought to call an adult!

I need someone to explain to me what was going on with this show. It started somewhat normally, like any other teenage show with a mystery to solve, which wasn't new. But they added the 'stalking' factor that was kind of new back then; you know, when we didn't have smartphones and life was easier, and you actually had to go out of your house to socialize.

Stalking was quite the job then, having to actually follow people around instead of just taking a look at their Instagram profile, and that's what made it scary and added to the mysterious aura. These girls had someone chasing them and knowing all their secrets. I'll tell you one thing: this show would be impossible to make now. With all the changes in technology and the way we live, these girls' secrets wouldn't have lasted any longer than five minutes. Everybody would have known that Aria's dad had cheated, that Ezra was dating a student, that Spencer stole her sister's boyfriend (twice), and so on…

Besides, with the great surge of therapy and all the Internet gurus telling you to cut off toxic people in your life, none of the 4 protagonists would have tolerated having a friend like Allison. I'm telling you, that girl was toxic… Yes, she had a few iconic lines, but that doesn't make her any less of a bad person.

The whole 'A' thing was interesting and original, but after the dollhouse storyline, everything started going south. [SPOILER ALERT] I mean, what was that about Spencer having an evil twin sister? The whole thing made no sense, and the only reason it was salvageable was Troian Bellisario's acting skills. That accent was ridiculous in context, but she gave her all. Still, at that point we had had enough. How many lost sisters can there be in a single show? Really, in the end, everything got out of hand.

Still, PLL is one of my favourite shows to this day, and every time I rewatch it, I say, "How did they get away with this storyline?" But I keep watching it anyway, and it only gets more fun. So here I bring you a set of memes, because laughter, as Allison would say, 'It's immortality, my darlings.'
