The Seattle Seahawks are officially for sale, just two weeks after their Super Bowl win over the New England Patriots. This decision comes several years after speculation about the need for new ownership following the death of Paul Allen, the team's former owner, in 2018.
One possible owner could be Seattle native and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. In 2022, Bezos expressed interest in purchasing an NFL team, labeling football as his "favorite sport" in 2022 he told CNN "we'll just have to wait and see" regarding ownership rumors. He has been heavily linked to purchasing the Seattle Seahawks and previously considered the Washington Commanders.
As of 2026, Jeff Bezos' net worth is $253.2 billion, which is enough to buy the Seattle Seahawks outright. A possible purchase by Bezos would draw conflict-of-interest concerns, as Bezos is a significant stakeholder in Amazon Sports, the NFL's rights holder for Thursday Night Football, which is owned by Amazon.
If he proceeds with the purchase, Bezos would become the wealthiest team owner in across all sports, surpassing the Walton family, who owns the Denver Broncos.
