Sean McDermott took his glasses off — and the Bills can't stop winning

2 hours ago 3

Sean McDermott began wearing glasses on the sideline earlier this season.

It was for exactly the reason you'd think: He needed to see things more clearly.

Something bizarre happened, though, almost surely not linked to this choice but also ironically aligning with it: The Bills started to struggle when McDermott made the change.

But a couple months ago, McDermott took the glasses back off, and the trend line has changed considerably.

McDermott wore the glasses for six games. In those contests, the Bills went 3-3.

Since they were taken off, the glasses-less McDermott and Bills have gone 8-1.

When McDermott spoke about his glasses earlier in the year, he discussed how he had tried them before and they just hadn't quite felt right to him on the sideline. By the start of this year, he felt he had to put them on anyway, because the alternative wasn't good enough.

"Just living 40 some, 50 some years without glasses and then trying to do it in a game, didn't work for me," McDermott said earlier this season. "Right now, I have no choice. So it's out of necessity more than anything, but I appreciate you asking."

McDermott has clearly found an alternative, and the Bills are winning again.

If you're superstitious, maybe this is the reason.

In reality, there are many better explanations than glasses. But Bills Mafia will take the wins however they can get them.
