The Seattle Seahawks have made it to the NFC Championship game and are one win over the Los Angeles Rams away from making the Super Bowl.
While Sam Darnold, Rashid Shaheed, Kenneth Walker, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba are impressive, the Seahawks' defense is the star of the show. And of that unit, third-year defensive back and three-time Pro Bowler Devon Witherspoon might be the best.
The 2023 NFL Draft pick has another year left on his deal, and a 2027 club option that the Seahawks are going to be more than willing to pick up. But what would an extension look like?
Seahawks' Devon Witherspoon receives $69M projection
Spotrac.com has a nice projected figure for the young Seahawks DB, with Witherspoon projected to land a $69 million extension based on his present Market Value.
This projection from Spotrac isn't a small one. While it's $69 million, a good deal less than Trent McDuffie's $111 million projection, Witherspoon's projection would be for three years, not four like McDuffie's.
What this projection means is that Witherspoon, the 25-year-old defensive back, is projected to land a deal worth roughly $23.2 million per-year.
That's a lot for any player, but for someone as talented as Witherspoon, it would be more than worth it. He's a shut-down cornerback, something that's not easy to find in the NFL.

In his NFL career, he has two interceptions, 32 passes defended, 4.5 sacks, and 249 combined tackles with a passer rating allowed of 95.8.
He's one of the best defensive backs in the NFL, and could get a lot better over the next few years. Extending him would be a no-brainer for the Seahawks and will become a possibility this offseason.
If the Seahawks and award-winning GM John Schneider decide to get out ahead of his extension, a possible deal could be a three-year, $69 million extension that could keep him in Seattle for the foreseeable future.
