Seahawks' Super Bowl chances hinge on 1 player

1 hour ago 2

The Seattle Seahawks are one game away from the Super Bowl, with their NFC West rivals, the Los Angeles Rams, standing in their way.

With Seattle being at home, many have Mike Macdonald's team as favorites, but the game might hinge on one thing - the Seahawks' run game.

Seattle's go-to guy in the red zone, Zach Charbonnet, is out with an ACL injury, leaving Kenneth Walker, who rushed for 116 yards and 3 TDs in the Seahawks' win over the San Francisco 49ers, as the lead guy.

It is only natural to think that the Seahawks are going to lean on Walker against the Rams, but he's yet to have a 20-carry game in 2025.

And for NFL.com's Nick Shook, Walker's ability to handle an increased workload is going to be a big watch.

"Can Walker handle a larger share of backfield snaps and effectively replace Charbonnet?" Shook wrote. "If the Seahawks can't establish the ground game, that will shift the onus onto Darnold, potentially backing Seattle into a corner they don't want to encounter, which makes Walker's role that much more important with a trip to the Super Bowl on the line."

Seahawks aiming to win trilogy

With the Seattle/Los Angeles season series tied at 1-1, this game is the tie-breaker.

Not to mention that the winner goes to the Super Bowl as well.

So, there is a lot riding on it, and the Seahawks, ideally, won't want Sam Darnold to throw 30+ times, a more run-balanced offense.

But with Walker the main guy, and Cam Akers, who was on the practice squad, his likely backup, Darnold might be forced to air it out more often.

And that could spell danger for the Seahawks.

Who will win the trilogy? We're about to find out.
