Seahawks predicted to sign $70 million Ravens free agent to address biggest need

Once the Seattle Seahawks finish off their season on Sunday, the team will find itself in an ideal position going into the offseason.

The Seahawks are set to have a boatload of cap space with a projected $74 million to work with, per Over The Cap. The scary thing for the rest of the NFL is that Seattle has that much cap space and not many holes to fill.

One area the Seahawks could look to upgrade in free agency is the interior of the offensive line, which Pro Football Focus' Ryan Smith thinks is the team's biggest offseason need.

In order to address that, Smith predicts the Seahawks will sign Baltimore Ravens Pro Bowl center Tyler Linderbaum, who Spotrac predicts will land a four-year, $70.8 million deal in free agency.

Here's Smith's thoughts:

The Seahawks arguably have the league’s most complete roster, which is no surprise, given they produced a league-best point differential (+191) in the regular season and are representing the NFC in this year’s Super Bowl. One weakness the team will look to address is the interior offensive line, which ranked 28th in PFF overall grade (57.3) during the regular season.

If a bidding war ensues for free-agent center Tyler Linderbaum, the Seahawks are well positioned to make a move with their ample cap space. Linderbaum’s 89.5 PFF run-blocking grade over the past two seasons ranks fourth among centers, making him an ideal fit for an offense that ran the ball at the second-highest rate in the NFL this season (47.0%).

After three straight Pro Bowl nods, Linderbaum has established himself as one of the best centers in the NFL and he's most certainly going to draw a ton of interest on the open market.

The Seahawks do have Jalen Sundell under contract for next season, and he was no doubt better than expected in 2025, but Linderbaum would still amount to a sizeable upgrade, both as a run-blocker and pass protector.

That said, the Ravens will want Linderbaum back, and they do have the option of using the franchise tag on him to prevent the veteran center from leaving.

But if Linderbaum is allowed to hit the free-agent market, we would suspect the Seahawks will be one of many teams lining up to sign him.

And Seattle would have a massive advantage over most of Linderbaum's suitors given their very favorable cap space situation.
