Seahawks linked to Tariq Woolen replacement in 1st-round with Tennessee CB

The Seattle Seahawks are Super Bowl 60 champions, defeating the New England Patriots in blowout fashion by a score of 29-13.

While Kenneth Walker III won Super Bowl MVP, the defense was what made the difference on Sunday for Seattle. Devon Witherspoon was incredible, and with his looming extension set to be huge, Tariq Woolen might be the odd man out.

With his future in Seattle uncertain, the Seahawks might end up going cornerback in the 1st round of the 2026 NFL Draft. If they do, ESPN's Matt Miller linked them to Tennessee Volunteers cornerback Colton Hood as a possible Woolen replacement.

Seahawks linked to Tennessee CB to replace Tariq Woolen

"The Seahawks are another team with a priority need at cornerback," Miller writes. "If he lasts to the final pick of Round 1, Colton Hood would fit the team's philosophy for length and physicality at the line of scrimmage."

Hood is a Sophomore cornerback who's spent time with the Auburn and Colorado programs in 2023 and 2024, respectively.

This past season, he played with Tennessee and had a very solid year. He finished with 50 total tackles, eight passes defended, one forced fumble, and one interception, which he returned for a 23-yard touchdown. He also recovered a fumble for a TD this year.

Hood is a 6-foot-0, 195-pound cornerback who would be an instant replacement for Woolen if the polarizing cornerback leaves Seattle in free agency.

With the huge extensions on the horizon for Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Witherspoon, and others, the Seahawks might be forced to let someone walk, and Woolen might not be the worst choice.

Re-signing Josh Jobe, who is going to be a lot cheaper than Woolen, and drafting someone like Hood 32nd overall wouldn't be the worst option for the Seahawks.

Miller is linking the Seahawks to Hood in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft, and with the huge potential need at the position, it's hardly a surprise that Hood is a fit for the Seahawks this year.
