Seahawks' Jaxon Smith-Njigba gets $113 million contract projection after breakout year

1 hour ago 3

The Seattle Seahawks' 2025 season has been an incredible one. There's a ton of focus on Sam Darnold and the dominant defense, but Jaxon Smith-Njigba's campaign might be the most impressive of the bunch.

His breakout year came at a great time, as the Seahawks are in the NFC Championship, thanks in large part to JSN's exploits this season. When it comes to his future in Seattle, there's no doubt they should extend him.

This offseason will be the first year he's extension-eligible, as the 2023 first-round draft pick should be in line for a massive deal. Spotrac.com backs that belief up, as Smith-Njigba is projected to land a massive $113 million deal after his breakout season.

Seahawks get $113M projection for Jaxon Smith-Njigba

Spotrac projects that JSN will land a big deal, which would be $113 million over three years, or worth around $37.7 million per-year.

That's very expensive, but for what he's done this season for the Seahawks offense, it's not far-fetched to spend so much on such a superstar receiver.

He's just 23 years old and in his third season. HE's a two-time Pro Bowler and one-time All-Pro. Smith-Njigba has proven to be a solid player, but his 2025 season was a whole other level.

In 17 games, Smith-Njigba had 119 receptions for 1,793 yards (most in the NFL) with 10 touchdowns, 79 first-downs (1 shy of Puka Nacua for 1st in the league), and an impressive 105.5 yards per game.

His 14.5 yards per-touch this season was the best rate in the NFL, meaning that when Smith-Njigba got the ball this season, on average, he gained more yards than any other player in the league.

In the NFC Divisional round, he caught three passes for 19 yards and a touchdown in a blowout. Against the Rams, he will likely need to have a bigger day, which could increase this projected contract from Spotrac.

While this projection for Smith-Njigba isn't cheap by any means, it would be more than worthwhile for the Seahawks to hand out.

The Seahawks have multiple offseasons to decide how best to extend Smith-Njigba. He's worth such a big extension; the only question is when it happens, and how much he will wind up getting on this likely blockbuster deal.
