Seahawks appear to have two front-runners to buy the team amid 'soft' market

The Seattle Seahawks are in the process of trying to sell the team and there appears to be two front-runners to acquire them.

According to Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer, the names he has heard consistently as potential buyers for the Seahawks are Boston Celtics limited partner Aditya Mittal and Canadian billionaire Steve Apostolopoulos.

The sale of the Seahawks popped up in the news last week, with ESPN's Seth Wickersham reporting the interest hasn't been as robust as expected.

"It's soft," an unnamed team owner said of the interest in Seattle.

"There isn't as much action as there was with Denver and Washington," one executive said to Wickersham.

Breer believes that has everything to do with the surging prices of NFL franchises rather than a simple lack of interest in the Seahawks.

ESPN’s Seth Wickersham had a good story on the Seahawks’ sale and the market being a little softer than expected, which is almost certainly a result of how the skyrocketing prices of teams have limited the number of folks capable of buying. As such, the two names I’ve heard most consistently tied to this sale have been Boston Celtics limited partner Aditya Mittal and Canadian billionaire Steve Apostolopoulos.

If not for how expensive it is to buy an NFL franchise, there would be plenty of suitors for the Seahawks.

That's because Seattle is coming off a Super Bowl victory and is primed to be a very good team for a long time because of all the youth on the roster.

Despite the slow market, it's a matter of when, not if, the Seahawks will get sold for a sum of money us mere mortals could only dream of having.
