A schoolgirl was stabbed to death in her own bed by an intruder who also tried to murder her mother, authorities said.

Lainie Williams, 17, was killed in the attack at her home in Cefn Fforest, South Wales, on Thursday morning while her mom, Rhian Stephens, 38, was severely wounded, according to the British news outlet Wales Online.

The teen’s 8-year-old brother hid under his bed after hearing his older sister’s screams, the Sun said.

Cameron Cheng, 18, was charged Saturday with Lainie’s murder and the attempted murder of Stephens, BBC News reported.

He was also charged with possession of a bladed instrument in a public place and will appear in court in Newport on Monday, according to reports.

Cops went to the family’s home at around 7:15 a.m. Thursday after reports that two people had been seriously injured there.

Lainie was confirmed dead at the scene, the Sun reported.

Cheng allegedly waited for Stephen’s boyfriend to leave for work before breaking into the house, the victims’ relatives said.

He “lunged at Lainie with the knife, and her mother heard her screams,” the girl’s grandfather, Robert Stephens, told the Mirror.

“Lainie’s brother Carter came out of his room, and Rhian told him to get back in and hide under the bed,” Stephens said.

Neighbors on the quiet residential street said they were woken up by the sounds of sirens, helicopters and officers banging on doors.

No motive has yet been given for the shocking knife attack.

Stephens has reportedly now been discharged from the hospital after being treated for her injuries.

The “brave and beautiful” Lainie is meanwhile being mourned by her family and friends.

“There’s not enough words, rest peacefully our brave and beautiful cousin Lainie,” her cousin Megan wrote on social media. “Very fond childhood memories I’ll cherish forever. You were and still are so loved.”

A local called the teen “the loveliest, kindest person who had a lot of friends.”

Another resident said, “It is terrible.

“That poor girl had everything to live for, and now she is gone. At least the mother survived, but she will never get over what she witnessed.”

Cefn Fforest Councillor Shane Williams told the Mirror, “We are all deeply shocked and saddened by the events that have unfolded, and I understand that the police are not looking for anyone else in connection.”
