The Philadelphia Eagles are trending downward following a 2-0 start to the 2026-27 campaign.

After a disappointing 27-7 loss to the Chicago Bears in Week 3, the two-time Super Bowl champions squandered a late 10-point lead against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday afternoon and suffered an inexcusable 24-20 home loss.

Eagles star running back Saquon Barkley exited the contest early with a nagging hamstring injury, noticeably limiting Philadelphia’s ability to create short-yardage passing opportunities for Jalen Hurts (Tank Bigsby finished with 14 carries for 55 yards, while Will Shipley recorded six carries for 23 yards).

Fortunately for the Eagles, Barkley's lower-body setback doesn’t appear to be a major concern.

"Saquon Barkley left early in the game with a hamstring injury and was not able to return," Rapoport reported Monday. "The severity of this injury will be determined by tests today at the outset. It does not seem to be overly serious, but we will see for Saquon how long he's going to be out and when he is able to return."

Having an RB of Barkley’s caliber in the mix is undoubtedly a luxury, as it allows Philadelphia to utilize a balanced offensive attack and begin possessions with advantageous chunk plays.

The former New York Giants stud has rushed for 182 yards on 36 carries to start the season (5.1 yards per attempt), but he must regain his health to help the Eagles get back on track sooner rather than later. If Rapoport’s report holds merit, Barkley shouldn’t expect to miss an extended period on the gridiron.
