Indian cricketer Sanju Samson has made some interesting comparisons, including naming Virat Kohli as the equivalent of Cristiano Ronaldo. The goalkeeper was talking to Premier League India when he was asked to name the cricketing equivalents of current footballers.

In a video released by Premier League India on Instagram, Samson started off by saying Kuldeep Yadav is similar to Bruno Fernandes. The wicketkeeper did not give any reasons for selection and was asked to pick the equivalent of Sergio Aguero.

The former Manchester City star was a key part of their Premier League-winning campaigns, and Samson was well aware of it. He named Mohamed Siraj as the ideal comparison, after the bowler's impressive show with the national team in recent years.

Cristiano Ronaldo was up next, and Samson wasted no time in naming Virat Kohli. Both players are widely regarded as the GOATs of their respective sports by a large section of fans.

Samson took a bit of time in naming Harry Kane's equivalent, but went with MS Dhoni at the end. He said that the Englishman was calm and composed, and those were the qualities of the former Indian captain.

Jasprit Bumrah was named as the equivalent of Cole Palmer, and there was little to argue with that. Both players turn up for their teams, regardless of what others around them do on the pitch.

Mohamed Salah was the last name on the list, and Samson chose himself. He revealed that the Liverpool star was his favorite player, and thus chose to name himself.

Virat Kohli sent message to Cristiano Ronaldo in 2022

Virat Kohli posted on Instagram for Cristiano Ronaldo after Portugal were knocked out of the FIFA World Cup in 2022. The Indian cricketer hailed the Portuguese superstar as the GOAT and added that missing out on a trophy does not take away what he has done for the sport.

He wrote:

"No trophy or any title can take anything away from what you've [cristiano Ronaldo] done in this sport and for sports fans around the world. No title can explain the impact you've had on people and what I and so many around the world feel when we watch you play. That's a gift from god. A real blessing to a man who plays his heart out every single time and is the epitome of hard work and dedication and a true inspiration for any sportsperson. You are for me the greatest of all time."

Cristiano Ronaldo is keen on playing at the 2026 FIFA World Cup and could seal Portugal's qualification with a win over Ireland on Thursday, November 13. Virat Kohli has retired from Tests and T20Is for India, but continues to play in ODIs and in the IPL for Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
