The San Antonio Spurs and OKC Thunder went toe-to-toe in a must-win NBA Cup semifinal at the T-Mobile Arena on Saturday. Before these two teams took the floor, the New York Knicks defeated the Orlando Magic and punched their ticket to the final.
The Spurs stuck to their starting lineup of De'Aaron Fox, Stephon Castle, Devin Vassell, Harrison Barnes and Luke Kornet. Victor Wembanyama was active but didn't play even a single minute in the opening quarter. Meanwhile, the Thunder started the game with a lineup featuring Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jalen Williams, Lu Dort, Chet Holmgren and Isaiah Hartenstein.
The Thunder flexed their muscle early and raced to a 22-10 lead. Gilgeous-Alexander wasted no time in making an impact, scoring 10 points and helping OKC to a 31-20 lead after the opening frame.
The Spurs were miserable from beyond the arc, missing their first 12 attempts from 3-point range. San Antonio's offense came from Castle, who scored seven points in the opening quarter.
